| Description: | During the American Revolution, British expeditionary forces attacked and invaded Connecticut three times. This tour takes you to three of the battlefields where Connecticut's forgotten heroes fell to win our liberty and establish our infant republic. First stop is the battle of Ridgefield. Here we will visit the barricade site and the Keeler Tavern where a British cannonball still remains lodged in the beam of the house. Our second stop is Black Rock Fort on New Haven Harbour. It is here we'll recount the story of the British invasions of New Haven, Fairfield and Norwalk. Last stop is at Connecticut's Alamo, Fort Griswold! This is the site of the most intense battle on Connecticut's soil. Here outnumbered Connecticut farmers and their sons fought to the death to protect their homeland in the greatest display of raw courage in Connecticut's history. Sponsored by the Institute of Connecticut History. Departure location to be determined. Call for reservations. |
