| Description: | Children’s curiosity comes alive as they witness weird and wonderful science demonstrations by Mystic Aquarium educators and special presentations by Keith Michael Johnson’s Bubbleology and Mad Science of Eastern Connecticut. Keith Michael Johnson’s Bubbleology kicks off “Weird Science” on Saturday, Feb. 16. For one day only, guests can explore the secret world of bubbles with state-of-the-art bubble sculptures and discover how bubbles work, what bubbles can do and how to conduct bubble experiments at home. Mad Science of Southeastern Connecticut’s daily, spellbinding presentations introduce children to the principles of air and pressure with hot air balloons, vortex generators and a hovercraft. Have you ever witnessed the power of a Van de Graaf generator? Now is your chance—it’s hair-raising! Watch bubbles form into crystal balls and see why a plastic bag filled with water doesn’t leak after it’s punctured with a needle. Learn what makes beluga whales unique, play with flubber, take part in a scavenger hunt, discover fascinating animals throughout the aquarium and enjoy special fish feedings on the main exhibit floor. |
