| Description: | A Connecticut Landmark. “I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country” declared Captain Nathan Hale moments before the British hanged him as a spy in 1776. Hale, Connecticut’s State Hero, was born and spent much of his life on this 400-acre farm. A Yale-educated schoolteacher, Hale joined patriot forces and volunteered to secure much needed information before being captured as a spy. Hale’s father constructed the current house in 1776, near the site of an earlier and smaller dwelling. Visitors will be able to view rooms newly painted in their original colors and object belonging to the Hale family. |
