20. WARM WEATHER FUN
QUASSY AMUSEMENT PARK
Choose an amusement park appropriate to the age of your kids. Young children favor Quassy Amusement Park ( www.quassy.com ; 800-FOR-PARK) in Middlebury,  located on spring-fed Lake Quassapaug. The 20-acre amusement park has two dozen rides and attractions, including an interactive waterplay area (Saturation Station), the Big Flush Watercoaster, the Grand Carousel, and a white sand beach. School-age children and teens like Lake Compounce ( www.lakecompounce.com; 860-583-3300) in Bristol. The 320-acre park features the only coaster built into the side of a mountain,  Thunder N Lightning (a power swing that catapults riders to heights of 100 feet at 60 miles-per-hour), and a ride-packed water park.
CONNECTICUT’S FRIED-CLAM CAPITAL
Head to West Haven, southwest Connecticut’s fried-clam capital. Stop at one of several locally-loved restaurants, such as Stowe’s Seafood (203-934-1991), Jimmie’s of Savin Rock (203-934-3212), Chick’s (203-934-4510), and Captain’s Galley (203-932-1811). Bradley Point (a small sandy beach), Oak Street (a sandy beach with a fishing pier), Morse Park (a large sandy beach), and Sandy Point (a popular birding site) are linked by a 1.7-mile waterfront walkway for pedestrians, cyclists and in-line skaters.

Quench your thirst at Foxon Park Beverages in East Haven. Brewing pop since 1922, Foxon’s beverages include gassosa, an Italian lemon-lime soda.
OCEAN BEACH PARK
Stay overnight at one of many motels along the Connecticut Shoreline.

Spend a day at New London’s Ocean Beach Park. Fans love the half-mile-long “sugar sand” beach, boardwalk, small carousel, 18-hole mini-golf course,  50-meter Olympic-size pool,  picnic areas and onsite restaurants. In summer, the park is a top spot for concerts and fireworks.

Conclude your warm weather getaway with a trip to a southeast Connecticut clamshack. Sea Swirl and Sea View Snack Bar, both in Mystic, are favorites.
