With a whopping 4,700+ feet of frontage on the Salmon River and connection to 300-acre Machimoodus State Park and its network of trails, Sunrise State Park is an epicenter of nature, adventure, and modern Connecticut history. Sunrise State Park was once home to storied resort getaways — first Ted Hilton’s Hideway, then the Frank Davis Resort, and most recently the Sunrise Resort. Today, the 146-acre park is an idyllic spot to set up a picnic, put in your kayak, watch for bald eagles fly fish, or even cross-country ski.
