Wish You Were Here is a virtual and physical exhibition of postcards featuring images submitted by just over 100 people from across Connecticut and around the United States.
The online gallery will be viewable beginning June 13, and the physical gallery, which is in the lobby of Still River Editions' print studio, will be open to up to two people from the same household at a time from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday beginning on June 22. Please call in advance of your visit (203) 791-1474; masks are required for entry. The exhibition is free.
Gallery Director Lys Guillorn put out a call for submissions looking for “digital images you’ve taken during the COVID-19 pandemic—slices of daily life, art photographs, or photographs of artwork you’ve worked on or completed between March 1 and May 31 of 2020.” There are digital and alternative process photographs, paintings, prints, illustrations, drawings, and collages. The subject matter, tone, and style of the images reflect the varied experiences and creative impulses of the people who made them. At the end of the exhibition, the artist list will be randomized, and each artist will be mailed another artist’s postcard.
