Connecticut Celebrates Netflix Release of New “Gilmore Girls” Series

HARTFORD, Conn. (Nov. 18, 2016) – To celebrate the highly anticipated Netflix series premiere of “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” on Nov. 25, Connecticut has created several fun Gilmore Girls-themed pages on its official tourism website,, including a special Gilmore Girls getaway that invites visitors to experience the real Stars Hollow. The getaway and other pages on the website highlight many of the Connecticut towns and landmarks that inspired the show.


Connecticut towns including Washington, New Milford and Litchfield influenced the creator of the show, and they continue to draw fans looking to capture a little of the Gilmore Girls magic. On the website, visitors will find a one- to two-day travel itinerary highlighting the places and landmarks that shaped the show and its storylines, making the fictional town of Stars Hollow come to life.


Locations to check out include the Mayflower Grace hotel, The Hickory Stick Bookshop and Marty’s Café in the town of Washington, as well as the New Milford town green gazebo, the Bridgewater Village Store (mmm, coffee!), and the shops in downtown Litchfield. The itinerary, available here, also includes suggestions for nearby restaurants and overnight accommodations.


For selfie-obsessed social media fans, features a collection of locations where Gilmore Girls fans can capture the best photos of the real-life places that inspired Stars Hollow. Locations include The Village Restaurant in Litchfield and Woodbury Antiques. See all the photos here


The website also features a fun Stars Hollow town page, similar to pages about real Connecticut towns featured on the tourism website. The page notes that Stars Hollow is “home to friendly, somewhat eccentric characters, charming New England scenery and a fascinating, ever-changing history.” The page also lists Stars Hollow’s notable citizens, including Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, top attractions and town events like the Charity Picnic Basket Auction.
