Expanded Connecticut Craft Beer Garden Returns to The Big E, Joins 60+ Businesses in Connecticut Building

HARTFORD, Conn. (Sept. 13, 2017) – Visitors to The Big E this year can enjoy a greater variety of Connecticut craft beer, as well as more than 60 exhibitors in the Connecticut Building, offering everything from cider donuts and barbeque to hand-rolled cigars and hand-poured candles.

The Connecticut Craft Beer Garden, which debuted last year, will feature more than 17 Connecticut breweries and 50 beers on tap throughout the 17-day event. Breweries large and small, including Back East Brewery, Beer’d Brewing Company and Kent Falls Brewing Co., will be serving up Oktoberfest selections, IPAs and pale ales, among other varieties. For the first time, the beer garden will also pour hard cider from Wallingford-based New England Cider Company.

“The beer garden, which proved hugely popular last year, is the perfect setting to sample new and award-winning beers from breweries across the entire state,” said Tyler Scholefield, owner of Connecticut Craft Beer Works. “We’re thrilled to be back in the Connecticut Building showcasing the ingenuity of the state’s brewers.”

Visitors can purchase beer, cider and select wines for on-site consumption in the beer garden, located directly behind the Connecticut Building in a large tent.

Altogether, more than 60 small businesses, associations and major companies will be on display throughout the event in the Connecticut Building, showcasing the state’s diverse array of culinary, cultural and tourism offerings for the whole family. The full list of exhibitors can be found at www.Facebook.com/TheConnecticutBuilding.

Visitors can also mark their calendar for Connecticut Day on Wednesday, Sept. 20. The day-long celebration will feature a parade, 11 hours of live entertainment in the Connecticut Building, magicians, impersonators and much more.

“The Connecticut Building is a wonderful celebration of the diversity that makes our state so unique,” said Randy Fiveash, director of the Connecticut Office of Tourism. “We welcome everyone to come and sample what makes Connecticut such a fantastic place to live and visit.”

The Connecticut Building, which is part of the Avenue of States, will be open daily from Sept. 15 to Oct. 1, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
