Fun Drinks for When You're Not Drinking

Meet the CT Ambassadors! CTvisit.com is proud to partner with some of the region's most popular bloggers for ideas, insights and inspiration from the people who are lucky enough to call Connecticut home, like the bloggers behind Unlocking Connecticut, who wrote this article.

Sober curious? Resolving to live a healthier lifestyle? We’ve got six uniquely delicious, non-alcoholic beverage experiences from around the state you should try.

Athletic Brewing Company, Milford

Try a Connecticut-made non-alcoholic beer

One of the top non-alcoholic beer brands in the country is made right here in Connecticut. Athletic Brewing Company, with a production facility in Milford, is known for its high-quality N/A IPAs, ales, light and dark beers, sours, and hop-infused sparkling waters.

Other Connecticut breweries have created non-alcoholic offerings, including Two Roads Brewing in Stratford, which produces N/A versions of its Two Juicy and Road 2 Ruin IPAs.  New Park Brewing in West Hartford has a non-alcoholic West Coast-style IPA, Parallel, made with "the highest-quality real hops."

Delight in a tea ceremony

Enjoy a pot of loose leaf tea after you choose from over 100 varieties at Open Door Tea in Stratford. Don’t worry, the trained staff can help you decide. This cozy herbal tea shop believes in sharing the tea ceremonies and styles inspired by many different cultures and traditions from around the world.

For an in-the-tearoom experience, visit Take Tea in Avon, a British-style tea room,  or Tea with Tracy, set in the historic antique district of Seymour.

Celebrate with mocktails

Want the flavor of your favorite cocktails without the extra spike? Many of Connecticut's top restaurants and bars offer mocktail options, where bartenders craft delicious libations sans alcohol.

Enjoy thoughtful N/A drinks at spots like The Charles in Wethersfield, which uses non-alcoholic spirits and wines to build its recipes; Port of Call in Mystic, where many of the innovative tipples can be made without alcohol, and Fair Haven Oyster Co. in New Haven, with seasonal creations featuring bold flavors. Abigail's Grille & Wine Bar in Simsbury offers an alcohol-free mojito, margarita, and piña colada.

Visit a kombucha tap room

Get on the kombucha craze and visit a Connecticut 'booch taproom, like Cross Culture Kombucha in Danbury and East Coast Kombucha in South Norwalk. Enjoy unique flavors of the bubbly fermented tea, like Earl Grey, lemon lavender, hibiscus, ginger, and guava.

Drink the rainbow at a juice bar

Satisfy your sweet tooth with an all-natural, no sugar added smoothie, juice, or shake at Boost Bowls in Bethel, Danbury, Mystic, Newtown, or West Hartford. We’re especially loving the Pink Dragon, Aloha, Green Machine, and Blue Majik, which also happen to be very Instagrammable! For the extra sober curious, check out their juice cleanse program.

Get your coffee fix

Hang in one of Connecticut's most Instagram-worthy coffee shops, Dom's Coffee in Avon. Enjoy top-notch latte art, seasonal drink menus, and delicious bakery items to go with them. Find more coffee shops here.
