Adventuring with the Kids

Connecticut takes kids' fun seriously. You'll find plenty for the younger members of your family to enjoy, especially in Fairfield County. Whether it's camps, kayaking or cool places to stay, there's one phrase you shouldn't ever expect to hear: "there's nothing to do."

Sea Kayak Connecticut

Explore the shoreline of Westport Harbor, learn how to kayak, or enroll your children in a kayaking camp at Sea Kayak Connecticut. They're "passionate about paddling," and it shows in many tailored on-water experiences for people of all ages.

Inland in the area, you'll find Earthplace, offering fun ways for children to get in touch with nature and animals, including summer camp options. Kids can expend plenty of energy at SkyZone Trampoline Park in Norwalk, with countless ways to jump, soar and climb. Or, head under the sea at the acclaimed Maritime Aquarium, featuring 75 live exhibits and over 7,000 wild animals...not including your kids.

Thrillz Highflying Adventure Park

From log rolls and zip lines to virtual reality rides and laser tag, Thrillz in Danbury more than lives up to its name. Your kids can easily spend an entire day here, if it's even possible to have that much energy. They're also available for the best birthday parties ever.

In Newtown, EverWonder Children's Museum sparks imagination and a love of education in kids with hands-on, STEM-focused exhibits. For kids with a love of trains (that is, all kids), the Danbury Railway Museum features a fully restored train station, a rail yard and family-friendly rides on historic trains. After riding the rails, grab a bite at the Danbury Family Diner in the Danbury Fair Mall.

Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo

In Bridgeport Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo has been one of New England's most family-friendly zoos for over 100 years. Easily strollable, it showcases hundreds of different animals, including bison, wolves, spider monkeys, tigers and leopards. Kids can even take a spin on the historic carousel!

The Barnum Museum is a Bridgeport-area must-see, thanks to its eclectic collections of circus showman P.T. Barnum's artifacts. In nearby Trumbull, SeaQuest is the "most interactive aquarium in Connecticut" thanks to opportunities to touch, feed and interact with animals from across the world. And in Shelton, SportsCenter gives everyone in the family their own way to "get out and play" with 150,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor activities, including a golf range and batting cages.

Unique Camp Experiences

Sure, Connecticut's got plenty of traditional day and overnight camps. But we've also got a lot of unexpected options, like these:

Sportsplex@Fairfield

Rock climbing. Gymnastics and cheerleading. Ice hockey. Parkour. If your child likes to stay in motion, there's a camp — or two, or three — here for them.

Mad Science Camp

From half-day, full-day and virtual options, Mad Science STEM camps are designed to keep kids learning and entertained all year long.

School of Rock

Forget old-fashioned scales and boring music lessons. School of Rock provides a thoroughly rockin' way to attend camp — while learning how to play your favorite instrument.
