Captain Grant’s is an authentic Colonial home built in 1754 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is located in the historic village of Poquetanuck which was name in 1687. The Inn has six working fireplaces including the two sided fireplace that is lit during winter months for breakfast. In the summer, you may lounge on a three story porch were breakfast is served whenever weather permits. Each room has a carafe of sherry, television and full private bath. Guests are provided with a general map of the area along with a map of Mystic proper. Discounts are available, to all guests, for Mystic Seaport, Mystic Aquarium, and the Pequot Museum. Also, at area restaurants get a free glass of wine or free dessert. Behind Captain Grant’s is Poquentanuck’s first cemetery dating to the 1600s. Bring your camera and catch a ghost or two on film. Across the street is the new cemetery dating to the 1800s. Bring two cameras. Down the street is Poquetanuck Cove where Captain Grant set sail to Honduras laden with grist from what is now known as Double Down Tavern. The Cove is a protected wildlife sanctuary that can only be accessed by canoe or kayak. You can stand on shore and throw a line out when the fish are running. Close by is the Fish Connection, which can help with all your water needs. Very close to Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun Casino.
