Town of Canton

Rich in arts, recreation and history, Canton CT is the perfect place to visit. This “small” town offers the energy of a city with events, unique shopping and themed activities.

The touchstone of Canton’s vibrancy is the Collins Company, an 19th century powerhouse and historic marvel today. The factory serves as a beacon for visitors and innovators alike. Live music attracts crowds from across the state. If you love the outdoors, there’s no shortage of family-friendly activities to explore such as hiking or biking on the Farmington River Trail or kayaking at Collinsville Canoe & Kayak.

Another popular Canton destination is The Shops at Farmington Valley with its free fitness classes, outdoor movies, live music, and more. This attractive lifestyle center offers experiences for the youngest shoppers, from Kindred & Crew’s kid fashion shows to Next Gen Smarty Pants.

Canton’s iconic Farmers Market is another favorite, with live music to spice the fresh produce, baked goods and artisanal creations all produced locally. Catch the market in downtown Collinsville every Sunday from 10 am - 1 pm from June through October.

Beloved annual events like the Halloween Parade and “Christmas in Collinsville” help unite the community and are open to all. The Christmas event features many holiday-themed activities and installations including a craft show, food trucks, live music, a tree lighting ceremony, and more.

Enjoy live music? Every year the town of Canton hosts a summer concert series at Mills Pond Park to celebrate local artists and musicians. Every Thursday from 6:30pm-8:30pm, families, residents, and visitors are welcome to sit back and enjoy an evening of live music and refreshments.

We have only scratched the surface of Canton’s appeal. It’s a great place to relax, learn about Connecticut and US history, bring the kids and join fascinating conversations in cafes and street corners. Canton - especially Collinsville and The Shops - are made for walking!
