Sunset Meadows Vineyards is a 160+ acre family-operated farm, vineyard, and winery located in the picturesque Litchfield Hills. Farmland for generations, the tradition continued when the land was purchased by the Motel family in the late 1990s. First with cattle, now with vineyards, the Motel family pride themselves on continuing the farming tradition this area is known for. The more than 45 acres of vines (and growing) produces internationally awarded estate wines for your tasting pleasure.

Situated between Mt. Tom and Mohawk Mountain, Sunset Meadows Vineyards offers scenic views of the northeast region of the state. The tasting room and outdoor patio both face the west, the sunsets are spectacular. Known for our hospitality, let our knowledgeable staff guide you through a wine tasting or, enjoy a glass of wine, or share a bottle with friends while bringing your own picnic to enjoy the views. Chocolate and Wine Pairing Tastings offered  Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

The grounds are spread with trees and picnic tables for your enjoyment, and the patio makes the experience complete. Visit the gift shop and take home a memory. We offer many locally made products and the latest in wine accessories. 

A UC Davis certified Viticulturist and Enologist, owner, and winemaker George Motel, his wife Judy and son George IV  take pride in offering visitors the "fruits" of their labor. Located in the perfect micro-climate for growing grapes in the region,  From the state-of-the-art production rooms to the restored 1890s German bank-barn tasting room, you are sure to enjoy the experience. Since the winery opened to the public in 2008, the wines have been awarded more than 30 international and domestic gold, silver, and bronze medals. The current wine selection includes Chardonnay, Riesling, Rosé, Country Porch Peach, Cayuga White, Vidal Blanc, Root 63 White, Sunset Blush, St. Croix, Merlot, Twisted Red, Root 63, Root 63 Café, Midnight Ice, and Pyrrha's Passion.

Sunset Meadow Vineyards was awarded "Best 101 Wineries in America" by the Daily Meal, "Best of Connecticut" by Connecticut Magazine, 2013, 2015, 2017, Best Connecticut Wine 2013 by Connecticut Specialty Foods and Best New England Winery from Yankee Magazine, 2010. Just two hours from New York City or Boston and an hour or so from anywhere in the Berkshires to the Connecticut shoreline.

The winery offers year-round special events including Valentine's Dinners, Mother's Day Picnic Lunch, Father's Day BBQ Dinner, Meet the Grapes Vineyard Tours to name a few.
