Come aboard one of the sit-on-top ocean kayaks that are very stable and perfect for paddlers of all abilities and glide across the shallows, step out to check out some of the local critters, and cruise with the tidal currents at Ocean Beach Park in New London. These two-hour eco-tours include step-by-step instructions and information on local sites.

Come aboard on the open-air Carolina Skiff and cruise historical Stonington Harbor for a 90-minute tour. Experience the breathtaking beauty of the natural environment and listen to stories of the past and present unique to Fisher’s Island Sound. You can bring your own beverages.

FAMILY ADVENTURES will bring the entire family together for a camp-like experience to explore the world of adventure sports and science at locations that may be otherwise inaccessible.  Parents and kids will have an opportunity to fish with experienced anglers, explore the underwater world by seeing and snorkeling at Sandy Point, East Harbor, or Flat Hammock, or ride the waves by boogie boarding at Napatree.  The family adventure program is available on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 9 a.m.-noon.  Children age 4 and above are required to have a registered supervising adult with them.

SUMMER CAMP runs through September 3, 2021, and includes programs in sailing, marine science, and adventure sports. New marine science courses introduced for the 2021 season are Mystifying Miniature Microbes, Walk the Plank-ton, Whales, Tales, and Gales, Oh My!, Shore, Why Not? and Wicked Water.  Always popular, surfing and Wiki Wiki Makai classes return with a focus on learning the skills to surf and understanding how waves form.  Students will also learn to sail in their first Taste of Optis or Hartley Level I classes.

HARBOR CRUISES. Grab your friends and hop aboard NESS’s open-air Carolina Skiff for a 90-minute cruise around Stonington Harbor and Long Island Sound! Experience the beauty of the natural environment and see historic Stonington Borough from a whole new angle! Our knowledgeable and entertaining captains make this an experience not to be missed.

ADULT SAILING. Whether you are a complete beginner or a skilled sailor, we want to get you out on the water! This summer we are offering our Adult Learn to Sail and Adult Intermediate Sailing classes, as well as private lessons. For advanced sailors, we have foiling lessons available on our WASZPs! Qualifying sailors may also rent our J22 and 23’ Sonar sailboats.

NEW LONDON COMMUNITY BOATING. NESS New London Community Boating (NESS NLCB) engages students in immersive summer learning. Working with schools and community partner organizations, our goal is to provide sailing opportunities to the youth of New London to encourage life-long learning, a healthy and active summer, and stewardship of their environment and community.
