The town offers visitors a variety array of unique venues and attractions seldom available in one area. Throughout the changing season, the town hosts various annual event which includes the Apple Harvest Festival featuring a 5K road race, craft fair and the famous apple fritters. Lake Compounce, the country's oldest continuously-run amusement park, thrills thousands of visitoe each year with thrill rides, games and the state's largest outdoor waterpark. The town has three challenging public golf course. Fall is a great time to visit with an abundant amount of farms, or hike the trails by Crecent Lake or from the Metacomet Trail overlooking Wassel Reservoir. In the winter, down hill ski at the Mount Southington Ski Area.
