Woodbridge Avenue Neighborhood War Memorial

Dramatic bronze honor rolls listing the names of local World War II, Korean, and Vietnam veterans surrounded by monuments honoring all veterans.

Originally built in 1944 to honor neighborhood men and women serving in World War II, this touching Memorial has evolved from a simple wooden honor roll into what is now a beautiful monument featuring dramatic bronze work. The bronze Honor Rolls now list the names of local veterans from World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam War. Veterans of all major United States conflicts are remembered with stone monuments. Yet another plaque describes the unique history of this Memorial and its special place in the heart of this neighborhood. Each May, local Veterans' organizations, political figures, and neighbors pay tribute to all of our nation's veterans with a traditional, time-honored Memorial Day ceremony that has been taking place on the Sunday before Memorial Day weekend for the past 64 years.
