Whether you’re in the area on business, looking for a romantic getaway, or a girls/guys weekend, the Wedgeway B&B is an excellent choice. Wedgeway combines the comfort, elegance and relaxation of a traditional B&B with the safety, and security features of a modern hotel.

Located within the Cheney Brothers National Historic Landmark District, Wedgeway is the original home of Austin and Ruth Cheney and is included in the National Historic Registry.  Built in 1911 with a major addition in 1921, the grand home is situated at the western edge of a nine acre parcel of town owned land known as the “Great Lawn” and is the newest of the Cheney Mansions.  Austin and Ruth Cheney named the property “Wedgeway” do to the unusual shape of the lot. The home remained in the family for many years with Mrs. Cheney living here into her early 90’s. Over the following decades the mansion changed hands a number of times, and it began to show its age.  The home was purchased by Robert and Susan Shanbaum in 2001, and the couple spent the next 15 years lovingly restoring and updating the mansion. The home was sold to a private company in 2016 which began converting it into “dorm” style rooms for foreign students studying at local area schools. Significant changes were made during this conversion process and a portion of original details were damaged or removed.   In late 2019 your innkeepers Rob & Grace Zapor purchased the building with the desire to change it back into a home and run it as a bed and breakfast. We have begun a long term update and restoration as we work to bring back as much of the original character as possible.
