Founded in 1987, The Amistad Center for Art & Culture is an independent cultural arts organization, housed in the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art. The Amistad Center's collection is comprised of 7,000 objects including original paintings, sculpture, artifacts, historical documents and photographs, as well as memorabilia and rare books that document the African American experience.
