Father's Day: More Important Than Ever Last Updated 6/20

As we prepare to celebrate Dad, we recognize that Father's Day festivities may be different this year– but that doesn’t mean we can’t make the day special. Here are some great ideas for 2020.

Gifts Made in Connecticut

When shopping for a thoughtful gift for Dad, why not look right in your own state? Plenty of Connecticut businesses are still shipping their homemade products, offering curbside pickup, and many have reopened with new safety measures in place.

Make a gift basket for Dad filled with Connecticut-made goodies or choose his favorites from food to clothing accessories.

Celebrate Outdoors

While the array of Father’s Day activities may be smaller this year, there are still many ways to make memories.

Admire nature’s beauty by hiking or taking a walk with Dad! Luckily, Connecticut has some stunning locations to make it special. Check out these social distance-friendly hikes and these secluded hiking destinations. Additional information on less-traveled trails can be found here by the Connecticut Forest & Park Association. Experience some outdoor thrills with ziplining! Nomads Outdoor Adventure and The Adventure Park are both open for aerial fun with plenty of safety measures in place. For more outside activities for a memorable Father's Day, check out these great suggestions from golfing to fishing to art walks.

To ensure that too many people do not visit the same state parks at the same time, which would make social distancing more difficult, the state authorities have instituted regulations designed to limit visitor capacity. Find more information on the latest guidance here.

Before venturing out, we recommend checking for temporary closures as well as reviewing these steps to take to enhance “social distancing” when enjoying the outdoors.
